The opportunity

Charlie Sansom and Gavin Callaghan co-created Common Ground to explore local politics through contrasting perspectives. The starting point was a friendship, allowing disagreement without a personal falling-out.

The starting situation

The programme needed enough editorial structure to remain focused while preserving the distinct experience and perspective of its hosts.

Our role

The format brings questioning and criticism together with practical local-government experience, aiming to make local issues understandable through conversation rather than manufactured hostility.

How the work operated

The format required a repeatable combination of research, discussion planning, production and recognisable digital packaging.

Disagreement between friends

The format grew from Charlie and Gavin’s contrasting perspectives and their existing friendship. It combines questioning and criticism with practical experience of local government. Saxon Bridge developed the programme identity, format, release assets and production system; editorial preparation and presentation are shared by the co-hosts.
